About This Video
The George Washington University (GW) Office of Sustainability and the Committee on Government Operations and the Environment of the District of Columbia launched the first-ever Policy Greenhouse, on July 10, 2009.
The event, hosted by GW, featured presenters with five-minute verbal pitches on ways to make the nation's capital more sustainable, through pioneering approaches to environmental challenges such as transportation, carbon control and the creation of green space.
Policymakers on hand included District of Columbia city council member Mary Cheh and George Hawkins, Director of the District of Columbia's Department of Environment. As individuals outlined their ideas, an artist drew images of each vision of the future. Click here to check out the photo gallery from the event.
