1. Need incentives for good that act as disincentives for the bad

I wish you'd talked to Obama's energy rep about this...

Why can't we remove all of the existing incentives to the oil industry that are associated with oil exploration, research, production, etc. and start providing those same companies with incentives to explore, research, and produce renewables?

We need to start thinking of ways to turn THIS industry from adversary to ally... to give them the incentives necessary to use their vast wealth and influence to help make these changes. That's when rapid progress can be made and assured.

Wouldn't it be nice to finally get the power energy players on the same wavelength? Lets start thinking about ways to do it and then execute so that everyone is finally on the same page here? Otherwise there's always going to be resistance and lobbying to weaken or unravel such causes... which will essentially slow progress when we need it the most.
